Meet Denis
Denis Dean has lived in Washington County for over 20 years. Born in Miami, Florida, and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Denis earned his Bachelor's Degree at Florida State University before beginning a career in law enforcement. Denis worked for the Leon County Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy and for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in the Leadership Institute.
In 2004, Denis decided to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and become a 3rd generation attorney. After being offered a scholarship to attend the University of Arkansas School of Law, Denis chose to relocate to Northwest Arkansas, living first in Farmington and then Fayetteville. Denis’ teenage boys are first-generation Arkansans, and the Dean's love the natural beauty and challenges that NW Arkansas provides.
Denis joined the Washington/Madison County Prosecutor's Office in 2008. During the past 18 years, Denis has worked in the juvenile division, district court, circuit court, and even as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas. Denis has risen through the ranks as a deputy prosecutor, senior deputy prosecutor, and is now the Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for both Washington/Madison County.
As a prosecutor, Denis has handled every type of criminal case and is known as a prosecutor who tirelessly advocates for the victims of sexual abuse and violent crime. Denis has obtained life sentences in multiple capital murder jury trials as well as multiple child rape trials. Denis has received multiple awards, including Officer of the Year from the Fayetteville Police Department, Sheriff’s Award of Excellence from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Friend of Environmental Enforcement from the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District, and the Ordinary Hero from the Children’s Safety Center.
In his free time, Denis enjoys climbing mountains, having attained the highest point of 48 of the 50 states (and getting darn close on Alaska’s 20,320’ summit). Denis and his family also enjoy trail and mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing, and caving. The Dean children are active in Fayetteville High School’s marching band and choir and the Deans enjoy Sunday services at Cross Church Springdale.
